COVID-19 and Bushfires

First we had the Bushfires of 2019 and 2020 and now we are living through a radically different living experience due to COVID-19.

The Federal Government has understood the potential devastating impact of the Bushfires  on peoples mental health and from 17th January 2020 opened a new funding stream for immediate access to mental health services.

For those affected by the fires, there is no need for the traditional Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP), those affected can simply make a booking with a Clinical Psychologist. There has been 10 sessions opened up with the normal MHCP rebate, and at this time will be in place for 2 years.

Now we are currently living through COVID-19 and the unprecedented changed living conditions of Personal Distancing (sometimes call Social Distancing), and an enhanced focus on our personal hygiene habits for fear of contracting and/or passing on the virus. This has impacted on how we work, how we socialise, how we shop, exercise, entertain - almost every single aspect of our lives. In my practice, this has led to many clients being deeply affected by the loss of regular meaningful and happenstance contact with people.

In line with Personal Distancing rules and to protect myself, my family and yourselves, all treatment at The Woden Clinic will now be through TeleHealth services. TeleHealth can be provided via either Telephone or Video. From 14th April 2020 and for the foreseeable future, I will be using Coviu for Video TeleHealth. With Coviu there is no need for additional software. Any Smart device and computer can be used. You will be provided with a link for each session. To begin the session, just clink on the link and it will open in your browser. If using Coviu, please be mindful of the following: internet speed, who and what is in the room (or can hear - for your privacy), and that video calling will consume significant data.

For more information please do not hesitate to contact to discuss your concerns.
